In response to member demand for a more comprehensive educational offering into construction contracts OCA is pleased to recruit recently retired CCA President Michael Atkinson to join our stable of professional speakers.

This full-day seminar investigates some of the key fundamental legal principles and industry practices impacting Canadian fixed price construction contracts and subcontracts using the current CCDC and CCA standard forms as study examples.

Learn how to read and understand construction contracts and subcontracts like CCDC 2 and CCA 1, including the recent changes in the new updated versions,  how and why they are being modified, and what specific modifications to be on the lookout for.

All participants will receive an educational copy of CCDC 2 - (2020) and CCA 1 (2008) for their future reference. Lunch is included in the registration fee.

Michael Atkinson Past President CCA

Michael Atkinson served the CCA and the industry for 37 years initially as the Secretary to the Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) and rising to become President of CCA. He emerged as a leading specialist in the area of contracts, tendering and standard construction practices in Canada.

Michael served as the Private Sector Vice-Chair of the Municipal Infrastructure Forum established by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. He was a member of the Federal-Industry Real Property Advisory Council, the Editorial Advisory Board of the Daily Commercial News, the Industrial Security Advisory Board, the Construction Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
